Despite having only a handul of weight classes filled, the EC Wrestling Team finished 6th overall amongst a talented field of contestants at the 51st annual South Metro Invitational at McDonough High!
The JV team competed Friday at home versus several teams from Clayton County, as well as Atlanta City Schools. Our EC Indians fared well against Mundy's Mill, Forest Park, Lovejoy, and Grady. This was a good challenge for many of our younger wrestlers, but they stepped up to the challenge and did an ExCellent job overall. On Saturday, the JV competed at the Fernando Duals at Dacula. Despite several open weight classes, the team was able to pick up a couple of dual meet wins and everyone was able to get individual wins on the day. These young EC Wrestlers have really come a long ways in such a short period of time!
The EC JV grapplers competed at the JV Buzz Fest at Hampton High School. This was the first time that many of these wrestlers experienced competition in a dual setting, yet they rose to the challenge and represented very well. Every wrestler was able to pick up a couple of wins on the day, and the team was able to pick up a dual win, despite forfeiting severall weight classes.
The varsity team traveled to Walton to compete in the Walton Duals. Despite having quite a few forfeits, the team was able to pick up 3 wins on the day, and narrowly missed winning a fourth dual. The team had notable wins against Pacelli, Milton, and Calhoun , lost a very close dual to Morgan County, and wrestled very well against the defending 6A state champion Pope.. The team saw lots of good individual competition and definitely grew from the early duals experience.
Connor Cameron finishes in 6th place, due to injury default.
Christian Gordon finished in 2nd place, with 4 pins on the day.
